Penny Candle Mat has a circle of 8 pennies on top of a large penny.  It is made from layers of black, antique gold, olive, beige and red felt with blanket stitch edging.  Penny Mats are a folk art tradition born in colonial times when people had to use what they had.  They would cut scraps of fabric or clothing and combine to add color to their homes.

The mat has a 9" diameter.
